Adriana Castro’s appreciation for exotic skins began when she was a child growing up in Columbia. Visiting her father’s crocodile farm (called a Zoocriadero) as a child she would dream up designs that are part of her collection today. But Castro wisely put her passion for crocodile accessories on hold to learn as much about business as possible before starting one of her own. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at Purdue she worked for Sony before beginning her studies in Accessory Design at the Art Institute at Miami International University.
“My main objective is to create designs using crocodile leather that a 20 year old and 70 year old would love to carry” says the 25 year-old Adriana Castro. That’s a broad appeal, but she achieves it by keeping her designs classic and elegant and forgoing any statement-making hardware or detailing that would upstage the spectacular skins. A measure of Castro’s success: she’s already received a wealth of press and won the Fresh Faces in Fashion 2007 award for Accessory Design from GenArt.

In 2006 Sari Brown founded LuxCouture out of her desire to make hard-to-find designer bags available to women everywhere. Sari discovered her passion for handbags from a career in fashion that began on Seventh Avenue in New York where she quickly rose to key positions with fashion legend Oleg Cassini and traveled the country, analyzing accounts in major markets and honing her fashion and marketing skills. From that experience, Sari found she had a penchant for discovering up-and-coming designers on the verge of becoming the next big thing.
