This L.A. wonder, Bridgette Romanek, got her start by creating handbags just to give as gifts to friends for Christmas. These lucky friends were constantly stopped by strangers on the street asking where they got their bags (the downside of owning one her striking designs…) and within a few months Romanek bags could be found on the shelves of Barneys New York and gracing the pages of fashion bibles Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

It’s no surprise that she makes bags that appeal to many famous rockstars and starlets, several of whom have been spotted sporting one of her gorgeous crocodile designs, since she was surrounded by the glamorous world of the music industry from an early age: her mother was a singer for a legendary R&B band and as a teen she too became a singer and toured the world with her top-ten album. Clearly whatever Bridgette does, she does it well, and that certainly goes for her rockin’ handbags which are edgy with a capital E. That by no way means they’re not versatile: they can look rocking with jeans, taking-care-of-business with a suit and femme-fatal with a little black dress.
